Sweet Hour of Prayer – piano instrumental with lyrics

Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer,
that calls me from a world of care And bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known In seasons of distress and grief
my soul has often found relief And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer,
thy wings shall my petition bear To Him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless And since He bids me seek His face,
believe His Word and trust His grace I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer,
may I thy consolation share Till from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height
I view my home and take my flight This robe of flesh I’ll drop and rise
to seize the everlasting prize And shout while passing through the air
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!” “Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”

  3. This was my Great-Great Grandmother's favorite song she died when I was young but I remember sittin with her and she would sing and I think the birds stopped just to hear her sing. This brings back memories. I still remember falling in the floor and bawling at her funeral I miss her so much! but it won't be long and I'll be back with her on that old front porch siggin and playing and talking on that old front porch swing. Miss you Grandma and I'll see you in a little while!

  4. My mom played this at her first piano recital when she was young. I still remember her playing this for me as a child. She passed 2004. This has meant so much to me. You played beautifully. You will never know how much this touched me.

  7. I play it in C (with a key change into D) using sort of the chords from a hymn book, but I modified them a little bit. There's some pretty good chords for this song on chordie.com, and they're in the key of C too.

  8. Amazing:) . Uhm, your hands is playing in the key of C, but the tune seems to be transposed 1 step down, in the key of B.

  9. Please share more of your amazing talent!  I added this one to my favorites so I can listen to it whenever and however much I want!

  10. Absolutely beautiful!  Would you consider recording this again but with an overhead shot?  I don't read music and I have to watch people's fingers to see what keys they are playing. I try to pick up what I can by ear but that doesn't get me very far.  I would appreciate it if you did.  Really enjoy your playing.  Thanks for posting these videos!

  11. Thank you for sharing your talent. I like to listen to hymns instrumental but many times pianists add a lot of changes (ornaments) to the normal score, yours is better when it is like it was written. Very good

  12. This is so gorgeous, how did you learn to play the piano/electric keyboard? I have been trying to find my instrument– the one that fits me the most, and Piano along with Violin is my choice, so I want to learn how.

  13. This is so beautiful Kaleb.. I would love to use your instrumental to cover this song! I usually cover songs, create videos for them and post them on social media for my family and friends.. Would it be possible for me to use this instrumental and give you credit for it?

  19. Thank you for this music.  Would it be possible for you to do the same kind of view ( birds eye view ) of this song, so I can see what the chords (inversions as well) you are using. Love the sound. Thank you!! from Canada.

  20. Dear Kaleb,
Loving your performance with the above hymn on your piano, I took my liberty to add English lyrics and my Korean translation for my subscribers. I trust that you don't mind but approve my efforts.
